Katherine LaCasse

What I do

Both Katherine’s professional experiences, as well as her personal journey through life, have led her to believe that we live in a world where trauma, both big and small, is very prevalent. This notion fuels her passion from trauma informed practice, which is the backbone of her clinical work, and extends into other areas of her life.  Katherine is also a 500 hour certified yoga instructor, holding additional accreditations in trauma sensitive and childrens yoga as well.

This is Katherine’s first year at RSU23 as the School Social Worker at Jameson Elementary. Katherine grew up and attended school in Old Orchard Beach as a child, and is thrilled to now be giving back to the community in which she was raised. After graduating from high School Katherine earned her bachelors in psychology from the University of Maine in Orono.  She later earned her Masters in Social Work at The University of New England, and is currently a LMSW-CC.

Most recently, Katherine served as a school based clinician at an elementary school, in Sanford for four years.  Throughout that experience she spent time working with a variety of students, families, teachers, and systems at large.  Prior to this Katherine had worked with a primarily Somalian population in Lewiston, and at a Crisis Stabilization Unit in South Portland.
